Top 3 Interior Design Trends of 2022
Interior design trends and hanging out with friends over wine and furniture? It doesn’t get much better than that! The next best part? Getting to share my discoveries with you. Yep, I’m talking about High Point Market.
In case you aren’t familiar with it, High Point Market (HPM) is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world. Every 6 months, more than 75,000 people travel to High Point, North Carolina to discover the latest home design trends, meet top-notch artisans and vendors, and have fun (obvi!). It’s THE place to be if you’re a designer!
What Do We Do at High Point Market?
Good times aside, attending trade shows (like HPM), isn’t all fun and games. It’s actually an important part of our jobs as designers. What do we do?
We explore new design trends and discover brand-new furniture lines for our client projects.
We assess furniture lines’ quality and sit on allll chairs and sofas to see if they pass the comfort test.
We do our research and ask important questions about customization options, lead times, and material durability.
We make sure to find pieces that are a great investment for our various clients’ homes and lifestyles.
We create positive relationships with vendors who will have our backs when it comes to serving our clients.
Of course, sourcing unique pieces for our clients is always a top priority, but there’s something extra special about “going to market” that I could never quite put my finger on until this year… The people.
Think about it…at the root of a beautiful design, it’s always about the people. A home should change to reflect the people who live there, not the other way around. I love connecting with other designers, tradespeople, and reps because we share the same passion — to serve you, our people, so much better.
So what did we find at market this spring? Come take a look at 3 of our favorite new vendors, along with 3 interior design trends to keep an eye on in 2022…
Craftsmen & Suppliers We Love
1. Moss Studio
Family-owned, handmade, high-quality furniture? Yes, please! Moss Studio is based out of Los Angeles and has been delivering the design world with beautiful and durable upholstery and furnishings since 1989.
Their fabrics are soft, super comfortable, and effortlessly stylish…making them oh-so-easy to love. With so many patterns to choose from, we can truly create a custom, one-of-a-kind piece designed especially for your home. Best part? From the seams to the stitching, you’ll quickly notice the quality workmanship on each stunning piece. Visiting their showroom was one of the highlights of our trip.
2. Verellen
Hand-crafted in none other than High Point, NC, Verellen uses clean lines and rich textures when designing their stunning upholstery. Their quality fabrics are so forgivable that you’ll feel perfectly comfortable enjoying a fearless glass of red wine — and we did!
We especially love their unique, modern, and approachable designs. They offer a timeless and sophisticated vibe that can fit a variety of home styles. Plus, sustainably sourced materials will give you all the reassurance that you’re supporting the environment while enjoying furniture built to last.
3. Dawn Sweitzer Studio
High Point-based mixed media artist Dawn Sweitzer is a woman of many talents. She creates a variety of captivating artwork that will stop you in your tracks. Paintings, woven textiles, home accessories, mirrors, and glass…basically, she can do it all.
After a peek into her office (shown above), I found it so unique that she draws her inspiration from mood boards full of food, fashion, cultures, travel, and pretty much any photograph that strikes inspiration. Then, she runs with the freedom of creating something thoughtful and beautiful. Love it…and may take her devil-may-care approach to getting inspired for our next project!
3 Interior Design Trends to Keep an Eye on in 2022
1. Vintage Meets Modern Furniture / You know I love modern style mixed with just about anything, so it should come as no surprise that this trend has Susie Novak Interiors written allll over it. The unique juxtaposition of old-meets-new infuses spaces with effortless chic and timeless comfort. I’m here for it.
2. Versatile & Cozy Bouclé Fabric / Looking for a snuggle-worthy piece of furniture? Look no further. Bouclé fabric is all the rage these days, and it’s easy to see why. It’s made from thick and thin yarns that, when combined together, create a cozy texture that’ll make you want to curl up with a good magazine. Adaptable, durable, and versatile, this fabric works incredibly well on furniture with soft curves and rounded edges – which brings us to our next trend…
3. Pairing Soft Curves with Clean Lines / For a gentle, comforting, and relaxed vibe, embrace soft curves and rounded furniture. From lighting to furniture to accessories, we’re seeing this trend everywhere. Our tip? Combine both soft curves with clean lines for a modern touch that instantly adds interest to your space.
See something you love? Are your creative ideas flowing? You know where to find us. We can’t wait to bring the best of the best into your home (function and style, that is), so you can experience the joy of living in a beautiful home designed just for you.
Xoxo,
Susie
